A file management table is provided for recording each file to be managed and as file selection conditions, a day of the week, time zone, current user location, and storage location information of an original file on a network. A file matching a current day of the week and a current user location as file selection conditions is retrieved at a predetermined time, based on the file management table. When no file matching the file selection conditions is found in the storage device of a portable information apparatus (10), the file is downloaded from an original file storage location on the network to be stored into an internal storage device. Thereby, a portable information apparatus is provided that can be operated to retain a file, highly probable to be accessed at a current point of time or a current location, in an internal storage device without requiring user's decision of choice/discard and operation. <IMAGE> |
