The earthed electrically conductive body (13) of the nozzle (10) contains a high-voltage electrode coaxial with the outlet (16). The emerging spray (11) passes through a coaxial ring (30) of conductive material whose inner face carries several radially-oriented corona discharge points (31) maintained at a high potential (32). Positive ions produced in the surrounding gas neutralise the negative charges on droplets in the spray (11) and prevent deposition of a charged liq. film on the body (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for fuel, nearly 100% efficiency is achieved by further discharge of spray through ionisation of surrounding gas. |
