PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve high temperature anticorrosion properties by plating the surface of a catalyst carrier composed of a ferrite stainless steel to form an anticorrosion plated layer and forming a catalyst carrying layer on the anticorrosion plated layer. SOLUTION: A catalyst carrier 1 of punching pipe shape is used for a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas from a two-wheel vehicle, or the like, and the catalyst carrier 1 welded and supported in an inner pipe 5 of the shape being widened toward the end of an exhaust pipe 2 by cylindrical supporting members 3 and 4 on both sides is formed of a metal carrier composed of a ferrite stainless steel and coated with an anticorrosion plated layer, on which a catalyst carrier layer is formed. The Ni strike plating is suitable for the anticorrosion plated layer, and the catalyst carrier layer preferably contains one or more kinds precious metals as, for example, catalyst active components selected from platinum, palladium and rhodium, and the catalyst layer is carried on a metal oxide composed of an active alumina as a main component. |
