PURPOSE: A method for detecting a head location of a hard disk drive is provided to use an A/D(Analog-To-Digital) conversion value detected at a single offset location, and to calculate a current location of a head. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a current location calculating time of the head. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(42) moves heads(32) to set up tracks. The microcomputer(42) repeats an A/D(Analog-To-Digital) conversion value detected at a single offset location during disks(30) rotate as a pre-setup frequency, and stores the A/D conversion value in an inner memory(58). If the disks(30) rotate as the pre-setup frequency, the microcomputer(42) calculates an average value of the stored A/D conversion value, and stores the calculated average value in the inner memory(58) again, then completes a calibration process.
