PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction heating type melting furnace capable of efficiently melting items to be melted. SOLUTION: There are provided three coils 3A to 3C for performing an induction heating of iron scraps, and a control device 6 for changing-over these coils 3A to 3C in response to the molten condition of the iron scraps 100 and changing a frequency of current flowing in each of the coils 3A to 3C. With such an arrangement as above, since it is possible to flow the current having such a frequency as one which is suitable for melting the iron scraps 100, the iron scraps 100 can be efficiently melted within a short period of time. In addition, only a required coil can be driven in response to a molten state of the iron scraps 100, so that the iron scraps 100 can be efficiently melted.
