PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly recognize whether a gas cock is opened or closed even if the gas cock direction is laterally reversed. SOLUTION: This gas cock 1 is formed with an annular part 51 about rotating axis L of a valve body in a handle 5. Each two of 'open' letters 53 and 'close' letters 54 are provided on the outer peripheral surface of the annular part 51. The 'open' letters 53, 53 are disposed in a first end and a second end of the annular part 51 orientating a back-and-forth direction when the handle 5 is rotated to an open position. The 'close' letter 54 is disposed in a center between the 'open' letters 53, 53 to be seen from the back-and-forth direction when the handle 5 is rotated to a close position.
