PURPOSE: A process for preparing ketone by synthesizing expensive ketone using an inexpensive ready-made ketone compound without using conventional multistep synthetic processes is provided which produces highly value-added ketone in high yields. CONSTITUTION: The process for preparing ketone comprises the steps of introducing a transition metal catalyst containing rodium or iridium and 2-aminopyridine derivatives as an additive into ketone having β-hydrogen to a carbonyl group and vinylolefins having an aliphatic or aromatic alkyl group or internal olefins; and obtaining a new ketone compound as a product by heating the reaction mixture at about 100 to 180°C for at least 6 hr. The rodium transition metal catalyst is one selected from the group consisting of rodium monovalent catalysts, catalysts added a phosphine compound to monovalent rodium, rodium trivalent catalysts or catalysts added a phosphine compound to trivalent rodium.
