<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize even picture data, which is photographed by an ordinary camera and of which the photographing conditions such as the camera position and the photographing direction are unknown, with a high precision. SOLUTION: A contraction method is determined in accordance with the classification of an input picture (S2), and a reduction picture of the input picture is generated by this contraction method (S3). The extent of parallel translation between reduction pictures is estimated (S4), and that between input pictures is estimated for each block, and transformation parameters corresponding the perspective conversion are estimated from this extent of parallel translation by the method of linear least squares (S5). Estimated transformation parameters are used to transform one input picture on the basis of perspective conversion, thereby synthesizing two input pictures (S6). Correlation coefficients are used to estimate the extents of parallel translation.</p> |
