PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write display data at high speed and with optional color by providing a rewriting means rewriting writing data into display data written in a display memory. SOLUTION: A rewriting means 5 rewrites writing data from a register 1 into display data written in the memory area 42 of SGRAM 4, and the display data are set in a register 3. A control part sets the writing data in order in the register 1. The rewriting means 5 receives the writing data, rewrites it to 8-bit display data of the register 3, based on one-bit writing data of the register 1. Namely when the writing data is '0', it is rewritten into display data 51 and set in the register 3. When the writing data is '1', it is written to display data 52 and set in the register 3. The register 3 sends the set data to the SGRAM 4.
