PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective liquid crystal display device high in contrast ratio, high in the availability of the light and high in brightness. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with a pair of substrates 2, 2' placed oppositely to each other, a liquid crystal layer 15 containing a liquid crystal 5 held between the pair of substrates via at least transparent electrodes 3, 3' and alignment layers 4, 4' and reflection layers 13, 8 arranged on the rear side of the liquid crystal layer 15. The reflection layers are constructed so as to rotate the plane of polarization of the linearly polarized light which is transmitted by the liquid crystal layer to the rear side, reflect and return it from the rear side to the liquid crystal layer. |
