PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make measurable a jitter with high accuracy, while greatly reducing the capacity of a RAM required for a measured value, and to shorten the analyzing time of the measured value. SOLUTION: Peak pulses are output from a peak detector by the peak of a voltage waveform output from a magnetic head when data magnetically recorded on the magnetic strip of a card have been read, the interval of clock timing pulses obtained by the peak pulses is counted by a counter 6, a difference section between a count value and a jitter reference value set to a register 10 is taken by as subtracter 11, and the error value is stored in a RAM 8 as a measured value.
