PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the process for moving respective pointers while correctly maintaining relative positional relationship therebetween in a data processing apparatus for performing a series of operations for reproducing and outputting from a recording medium AV data to be determined in accordance with a specified reproduction speed among an AV data arrangement recorded on the recording medium while indicating, with the pointers, data that are currently objects of respective operations. SOLUTION: In this data processing method, a means for preparing a second data arrangement AFL composed of AV data to be determined in accordance with a specified reproduction speed by employing, as unit AV data to be reproduced from a recording medium every constant time period, and a means for processing a series of operations while indicating, by pointers p1, p2, p3, AV data that are object of the present respective operations on the second data arrangement AFL, are provided.
