PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a plasma display panel, reduced in the number of manufacturing processes and capable of realizing a simplified and small-sized manufacturing installation. SOLUTION: Transparent electrodes 18 are formed by providing a thin film for transparent electrodes on a front glass substrate 16 and making a laser beam irradiate the thin film continuously in the X direction and at fixed intervals in the Y direction so that the thin film remains between linear areas irradiated with the laser beam. The laser beam irradiation is performed so that an arbitrary irradiation area on the thin film irradiated with the laser beam partly overlaps with a next irradiation area on the thin film irradiated with the laser beam, and when a plasma display panel is viewed from its front, overlapping parts 74 of the irradiation areas are formed so as to come into line with barrier ribs 32.
