PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an operability of a total station by making functions and display contents of operation keys easy to understand. SOLUTION: Functions of each of operation keys 17a-17n are simplified as much as possible. Functions of the operation keys 17a-17n are sorted and arranged by types. Shapes of and symbols attached to the operation keys 17a-17n are set so that the functions can be directly judged therefrom. Symbols displayed to a liquid crystal display panel 16 are made patterns or characters so that displayed contents can be directly understood therefrom.
