PURPOSE: A heat treatment method of a piston ring grove is provided so a ring grove of a piston crown for casting iron and a piston for steel as to have the high hardness. CONSTITUTION: A heat treatment method of a piston ring grove has the steps of: inserting the refrigerating-type high frequency heat coil(7) into the ring grove(2) of a piston(1); heating with a high frequency the ring grove(2) with a heat coil(7) as rotating the piston(1); splashing the refrigerating water with air pressure as supplying the cooling water on the heated region of the ring grove(2).
