PURPOSE: An automatic reset method for an asynchronous transfer mode switch is provided for initializing a SIM/TIM which is not used for a long time in a state that an interface module status supervision function(IMSF) of a call and connection control processor(CCCP) transfers a reset signal to a SIM/TIM firm ware when a bandwidth is not used for a long time in the case that a SIM/TIM is mounted in an ALS. CONSTITUTION: An automatic reset method based on a subscriber board mounting in an ATM switch is implemented by a SIM/TIM(10...), a CCCP(20), an OMP(30) and an operator terminal(40). The SIM/TIM(10...) is formed of a module which mounts 15 units in maximum for an interface with a subscriber or a trunk and includes an interface module communication unit(IMC). The IMC(12) transfers an IPC cell message to the IMSF(22) of the CCCP(20) when the subscriber board is mounted. In addition, the IMC(12) receives a reset signal from the IMSF(22) of the CCCP(22) and restarts the system in response to the received reset signal.
