PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable generator with a protective circuit which can protect the power devices and power circuits of the generator from a large current exceeding a rated current while the power output from the generator is maintained even if a load which has a large load fluctuation, for instance a very short time overcurrent such as a starting current, is connected to the generator. SOLUTION: A portable generator 100 comprises an AC generator 50 driven by an engine, a DC voltage generating circuit 110 which rectifies the generated AC voltage, a DC power supply unit 120 charged by the rectified DC voltage and an inverter circuit 130 which converts the DC voltage from the DC power supply unit 120 into an AC voltage and outputs the AC voltage. Further, the portable generator 100 has a control means 310 which stops the operation of the inverter circuit 130 and cuts off the output of the power when an output current value detected by an output current detection circuit 330 exceeds a rated current value and an overcurrent detection circuit 350 which stops also the operation of the DC voltage generating circuit 110 when the output current value detected by the output current detection circuit 330 reaches a predetermined current value higher than the rated current value. |
