PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxide superconducting wire of a round section, having a small dependence about the direction of magnetic field and a high critical current value. SOLUTION: A tape-form wire 2 has a structure where a number of filaments 2b are arranged in a matrix 2a made of silver or a silver alloy, and three pieces of such tape-form wires 2 are laminated with a block 3 having approx. a square section being formed, and 12 pieces of such blocks 3 are bundled into tight contact with the surfaces of lamination of the tape-form wires being positioned approx. at right angles, and the obtained bundle is accommodated in a silver alloy pipe 4, and the obtained composite member is subjected to heat treatment for producing an oxide superconductor, followed by a drawing process to give a round section and thereby the crystals in the oxide superconductor are highly oriented.
