PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the configuration of a detection mechanism for detecting the start of drawing of a cartridge and the completion of ejection. SOLUTION: In the recording medium-fitting device 11, when a disk cartridge C is inserted into a holder 16, a cartridge 48 is rotated and is separated from a contact 80a of a motor switch 80. Then, when the motor switch 80 is turned off, a drive motor for loading is driven, thus rotating a cam gear 38 clockwise and leading the cartridge. After the cartridge has been fitted and the drive motor 62 is driven in a backward rotation direction by ejection operation, the cam gear 38 is rotated counterclockwise. Then, when the holder 16 moves to the ejection position and ejects the disk cartridge C, a cartridge hook 48 is reset and presses the contact 80a of the motor switch 80, thus the motor switch 80 is turned on and the drive motor is stopped.
