摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a neural net which is obtained by an evolutionary method without altering the function by detecting and removing an axis cylinder and a tree-shaped projection which are unnecessary for operation. SOLUTION: Neurons, axis cylinders, and tree-shaped projections which are unnecessary are formed by the growth of neurons based upon growth information which is set at random. Then the unnecessary neurons, axis cylinders, and tree-shaped projections are deleted and the formed free space is used to rearrange cells of axis cylinders and tree-shaped projections. The neural net includes cells of unnecessary axis cylinders and tree-shaped projections, and those unnecessary cells 24 are detected and marked. The marked cells 24 are put back into blank cells and information to the marked cells 24 is erased from branch information in cells on the upstream sides of the marked cells 24. The cells put back into blank cells are unmarked and when the number of pieces of branch information on the upstream cells is 0, the upstream cells are marked. This operation is repeated to put unnecessary cells 24 which are marked back into blank cells in order.
