APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TONE MONITORING OF PBX

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for monitoring tone of a private exchange system are provided to monitor if there is any error in the tone detector, if the tones are output correctly to the path designated and if the various kinds of tones used in the private exchange system are normal or abnormal. CONSTITUTION: A tone data transmission part includes a data register for writing the test-use tone data defined by the user. A tone-generator generates the test-use tone data into parallel PCM data through a certain channel on high way. A switch part including a data memory for writing the test-use tone data reads out the test-use tone data written in the data memory, converts them into serial PCM data and outputs them through the transmission high way. A control part compares the serial PCM data to the test-use tone data and determines if the tone of the system is normal or not according to the result of the comparison.
