PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read out information without illegally copying it by permitting the read of information from a storage medium only when user information exists between a reader and the storage medium. SOLUTION: When a user inserts a storage medium 1 into an inserting part 24 of a reader 2 and user information is stored on the storage medium 1, a CPU checks whether user information is stored in a user information storage part 25a of the reader 2 or not. In this case, when user information is not stored in the reader 2, user information is stored in the storage part 25a and the user information stored on the storage medium 1 is erased. Afterwards, contents stored in the storage medium 1 are transferred to the reader 2, decoded on the basis of the user information, stored in an information storage part 25b and read. Next, the CPU stores the user information, which is stored in the storage part 25a, in a user information area 12 of the storage medium 1 and erases the user information in the storage part 25a. |
