PURPOSE: An overlay welding method using a stainless steel containing a specific amount of Ni and Cr is provided to eliminate mechanical differences on the interface of welding bead and restrain the growth of inhomogeneous microstructure by proper heat treating after overlay welding. CONSTITUTION: The overlay welding method employing stainless steel as an overlay-welding material comprises the steps of overlay welding a stainless steel of which each Ni equivalence and Cr equivalence is within the area surrounded by A, B, C, D as shown below drawing; soaking it in the temperature range of 1000 to 1200deg.C for 0.5-6hrs; tempering in the temperature range of 450 to 650deg.C for 1-10hrs. Further, the overlay-welded layer is dual phase of 1-4-% delta-ferrite and martensite or trial phase of 1-40% delta-ferrite, martensite, and austenite.
