The panel is made from a backing layer of concrete, a mineral layer with gaps for growing plants, a mesh layer covering its front and sides. and drainage and substrate layers. The mesh is of a size which is smaller than the mineral layer particles and is made from a non-oxidising material which cannot come undone. It can be made from interwoven rigid rods and stiffeners with one end anchored in the concrete. The panel is made in a mould in which the mesh layer is placed, followed by the mineral material, a layer of sand or soil, and the concrete backjing layer, with the reinforcing elements set in place before the mineral layer. A substrate containing plant seeds can be placed over the mineral layer before the concrete goes in.
