PURPOSE: A method for searching cells using an optimum frame synchronization code is provided to use a new code pattern in a secondary synchronous channel(SCH) to map the new code pattern into each in-phase(I) channel tributary and each quadrature(Q) channel tributary, so as to easily perform frame synchronous/code group identifying steps among cell searching procedures. CONSTITUTION: Many column sequences composed of different binary codes are mapped into different channel tributaries, and are spread by an optional synchronization code. Spread code columns are correlated with many designated synchronization codes, accordingly when the spread code columns are received to the channel tributaries(S20). A corresponding code group relating to an optional cell is identified by a correlation result(S30).
