PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for resetting a board/system using a reset switch is provided to reduce a loss of data by generating a non maskable interrupt signal without using a reset input signal inputted from a reset switch as a reset signal directly, and by transmitting the non maskable interrupt signal to a software. CONSTITUTION: A reset control logic unit is composed of a counter unit(301), a counter loader unit(302) and a combination logic unit(305). The counter unit(301) generates a reset signal in case that a board or a system gets down, so an NMI(Non Maskable Interrupt) signal isn't properly processed after the NMI signal is generated by a signal(300) inputted by a reset switch. The counter loader unit(302) loads a proper value to the counter unit(301). The combination logic unit(305) operates according to a mode determined by the reset input signal(300), a reset output signal(304) and a software.
