PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording method and image recorder capable of improving the quality of an image formed on a sensitive material by decreasing interference streaks of a laser beam. SOLUTION: In an image recording method, a sensitive layer 2 containing a silver halide particle of an average particle diameter of 0.1μm or smaller and organic silver is provided on a support 1, light transmittance at the average wavelength of a laser beam is 20% or more, a silver halide heat development sensitive material F with aγof 2 or more is scanned and exposed with two laser beams of different wavelengths, and an image is formed on the sensitive material. The wavelengthsλ1 andλ2 of the two laser beams are selected so that a quantity of light emitted to the recording layer 2 is medium between the minimum and maximum. Therefore, the wavelengthsλ1 andλ2 of the two laser beams, the thickness D1 of the support, the refractive index n1 of the support, the thickness D2 of the photoreceptive material from a support face on the sensitive layer side to the surface on the sensitive layer side, the refractive index n2 of the photoreceptive layer, and theγof the sensitive material are determined so as to satisfy the expression (N+0.5-(0.7/γ))<2(D1.n1+D2.n2)((1/λ1)-(1/λ2))<(N+0.5+(0.7/γ)) relative to any of integers N.
