PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a float switch which prevents a contaminant such as dust particles or the like contained inside a liquid from being deposited on a float and which can detect a level correctly in the float switch which detects the level on the basis of the position of the float floating on the level of the liquid. SOLUTION: An outer shell 8 which covers a float 1 and which comprises a plurality of holes 8a is installed. Cleaning water or air for cleaning is supplied between the float 1 and the outer shell 8 via a pipe 9. Thereby, the cleaning water or the air for cleaning is jetted to the outside of the outer shell 8 from the plurality of holes 8a in the outer shell 8, and it is possible to prevent dust particles or the like inside a liquid from being deposited on the surface of the float 1 by means of the jet pressure of the cleaning water or the air, for cleaning, which is jetted from the holes 8a.
