PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute real-time processing that corrects element sensitivity in details by means of software, without modifying the shape of an optical system. SOLUTION: This sensitivity correction method corrects sensitivity of digital image data photographed by an infrared image pickup unit, employing a linear array sensor includes a discrimination step #1, where which element among a plurality of sensor elements of this linear array sensor requires sensitivity correction is discriminated, a correction parameter calculation step #2, where a correction parameter to correct element sensitivity of an element requiring sensitivity correction is calculated, and a correction image data output step #3 where this correction parameter is used to correct a pixel output of each element requiring the sensitivity correction and the image data are outputted. Thus, image data having no noise characterized by stripe patterns can be obtained.
