STEREO IMAGE COMPRESSION METHOD

PURPOSE: A stereo image compressing method is provided to be capable of improving a coding efficiency by using a different process method with regard to a covered region and a non-covered region. CONSTITUTION: A stereo image compressing method includes looking for a disparity vector with regard to a left image, looking for a disparity vector with regard to a right image, estimating a disparity of blocks except for a covered region, predictively coding each block using the disparity vectors, and coding an original input image signal like that with regard to the covered region. The processes for looking for the disparity vector with regard to a left image, the disparity vector with regard to a right image, and the disparity of blocks except for a covered region are carried out using a dynamic programming.
