PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting image signals is provided to reduce the consumed power by controlling the power supplied to a video camera during the time when a visitor is not sensed and to allow a recording and a PIP screen processing by a DC level difference without supplying an additional visitor confirmation signal. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for selecting image signals includes a supply power unit(30) for supplying the power to an image signal select device. The first power supply unit(32) is turned on by the level of the power supplied from the supply power unit(30) to supply a power of a given level. The second supply power unit(33) is turned on by the level opposite to the power supplied to the first supply power unit(32) to supply a power having a higher level than the first supply power unit(32). A camera unit(50) senses external situations to output an image signal accordingly. A synchronization signal detector(35) detects a synchronization signal generated by the image signal from the camera unit(50). An image switch unit(36) switches a PIP screen into an image signal inputted from the camera unit(50) in order to confirm the visitor. A microcomputer(31) controls the entire operations of the closed circuit TV.
