PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of editing operation by a method wherein a plurality of images are displayed by being converted into time lines which use time codes added to the respective images as references, and every image in a part designated sequentially on a time base out of the respective displayed images corresponding to the time codes designated on a time base out of the time bases is displayed as a clip. SOLUTION: A video server 3 stores image data D1 to D4 which are obtained in such a way that one object to be photographed is photographed by video cameras 2A to 2D in an imaging device 2 from various angles. A processor 5 in an editing device 4 displays images of the corresponding image data D1 to D4 on a monitor 7 so as to be divided into their image number portions, on the basis of text data DT1 to DT4 and encode data D5 to D8 from the image data D1 to D4 which are read out from the video server 3 by the retrieval condition, and the retrieval instruction of the image data D1 to D4 which are desired by an operator from an operating part 6. A part of text information, is displayed on a liquid crystal display 8.
