PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the internal short circuit prevention capability and electrolyte absorbing capability of a battery, further thin the battery and improve the service life of the battery by blending a specific quantity of polyamide fiber having a specific degree of single fiber. SOLUTION: Polyamide fiber having the degree of single fiber of 0.0001-0.5 d is used for this separator paper, and its blending quantity is set to 2-40 wt.%. When the blending quantity is excessive, solution absorbing capability becomes insufficient and internal resistance increases, and when it is extremely small, swelling resistance becomes insufficient. In order to obtain the fiber, it is recommended that sea-island fiber containing a polyamide resin as an island constituent is spun and then, a process for removing the sea constituent of the fiber is carried out, and a desired separator is manufactured by making the provided ultra-thin fiber into paper. In order to enhance the solution absorbing capability and chemical resistance of the separator, it is preferable that 10-98 wt.% of polyvinyl alcohol and/or cellulose fiber is additionally blended with. |
