Lifting machinery 1 for a lift 54, said lifting machinery being fastened to the guide 6 of the liftcar or the counterweight on its side, comprising at least one lift motor 2 and a driving pulley 4 driving the carrier cables 5 as well as two operating brakes 103 for the lift. The lifting machinery 1 is fastened to the guide 6 via the operating brakes 103 or in the immediate vicinity of the operating brakes.
