PURPOSE: A cassette type MP3 audio play back apparatus and smart music card are provided to play back a compressed (MP3) audio file with a conventional cassette player by storing the MP3 files in a smart card instead of a memory. CONSTITUTION: The cassette type MP3 audio play back apparatus comprises a main body(10) having a general cassette tape shape, a head(20) formed in a space, in which a head(200) of a cassette player is inserted, to contact with the head of the cassette player and serve as a signal input/output portion, a play back switch(30) formed at a side of the head to be switched on/off by the head of the cassette player to inform a play back operation, a memory(40) for storing a compressed audio file, a decoder(50) for decoding the compressed audio file read from the memory, a digital/analog converter(60) for converting a digital signal decoded from the decoder into an analog signal and outputting to the head, an analog/digital converter(70) for converting the analog signal transmitted from the head of the cassette player into a digital signal, and an encoder(80) for encoding a recoding signal input from the analog/digital converter.
