PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium discrimination system which does not need a storing part with mass capacity, is small-sized and inexpensive, also discriminates the authenticity of various types of media and also facilitates the management of reference image data to be discrimination reference and a discrimination program and device management. SOLUTION: This medium discrimination system is provided with a terminal device 1 for a medium discrimination system which collects data for authenticity decision of a medium to be handled, a host computer 2 which performs authenticity decision of collected data transferred from the device 1 and a communication line 3 with which the data for authenticity decision of a medium to be handled by the device 1 is transferred to the computer 2. In such a case, in the system, the device 1 is provided with a rough authenticity deciding means that performs rough authenticity decision of the handled medium, and the computer 2 is provided with a detailed authenticity deciding means that performs detailed authenticity decision of the handled medium. |
