PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device by performing BPSK reception by using only one of two symbol synchronizing means and QPSK reception by using both of the two symbol synchronizing means at the same symbol rate. SOLUTION: Symbol error extraction (ERRDET) part 19 and 20 adopt an EARLY-LATE GATE system. The parts 19 and 20 respectively extract carrier error signals S17 and S26 by performing costas (COSTAS) processing of an output with which a carrier is detected. Respective signals from down converter (DCC) parts 14 and 15 to the parts 19 and 20 are provided for two channels of an I channel and a Q channel. Then, an I phase signal and a Q phase signal crossing orthogonally with each other are subjected to BPSK reception by using only one of two symbol synchronizing means independently synchronizing symbols of each other and QPSK reception by using the both two symbol synchronizing means at the same symbol rate.
