PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconductor and its manufacturing method, having a composite structure with a reinforcement installed inside a superconducting wire, whereby wire disconnection during wire working is precluded through enhancement of the easiness of wire working operation, abnormal deformation of a superconducting filament is suppressed, and the wire strength is improved. SOLUTION: An aggregation 22 of superconducting filaments of composite structure includes a metal base, in which a number of superconducting filaments are compound, and an intended superconductor A is formed of a plurality of such filament aggregation 22, which are densely put in dispersion in a sheath together with a reinforcement, where the reinforcement consists of reinforcing members 23, 25, 26, 27 of various sorts having different diameters, and at least one of the reinforcing members has a diameter smaller than that of the filament aggregations and is inserted between adjoining ones of the filament aggregation accommodated inside the sheath 21, while at least one of the other reinforcing members is arranged inside the sheath in a position outside adjoining plural superconducting wires.
