摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to align the optical axis of a condensing optical system and the central axis of the core of an optical waveguide by providing the above method with a stage for measuring the distribution of coupling efficiency. SOLUTION: While the optical waveguide body is moved in an optical axis perpendicular direction (X-Y direction) and an optical axis parallel direction (Z direction), the position where an incident light quantity is above a prescribed light quantity is found and is determined as a temporal coupling center (S#5). The optical waveguide body is moved double the diameter of the inclination region from the temporal center in order to find the true center and the distribution of the coupling efficiency is measured. The coupling center in the X-axis direction is then determined (S#10). The optical waveguide body is so moved that the central axis of the core exists at this coupling center. The optical waveguide body is fed stepwise in the Y-axis direction and the coupling center is determined by measuring the coupling efficiency distribution (S#15). Similarly the coupling center in the Z-axis direction is determined (S#20). The optical waveguide body is moved to the moving quantity corresponding to the inside of the hatched region in the X-, Y- and Z-axis directions around the determined coupling center and whether the prescribed coupling efficiency is maintained or not is checked (S#25) and if this efficiency is maintained, the optical waveguide body is fixed (S#30) and the operation of the self-aligning means is ended.
