PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the examination period with a simple structure and perform a concentration detection with high reliability without being affected by a noise or the like, in a urine examination device for examining the concentration of optical active material such as sugar or protein contained in urine. SOLUTION: An A/D converting means 14 converts the output of a light receiving means 12 from analog value into digital value a plurality of times in a modulation cycle, an amount-of-received-light converting means 19 applies a prescribed calculation to a plurality of digital values every 1/2 cycle of a modulation cycle of a magnetic field modulating means 18 to convert variation part of an amount of received light, and a concentration converting means 21 converts concentration of optical active material of measured urine based on the output of the amount-of-received-light converting means 19 in a magnetic field in a plurality of stages. Therefore, the concentration detection with high reliability without being affected by a noise or the like can be performed easily and speedily.
