PURPOSE: A socket for a module IC(integrated circuit) and a method for installing it on a socket assembly are provided to install a plate that electrically connects the socket and a main board in a vertical state. CONSTITUTION: A pair of housing have insertion holes(13a,13b) wherein a module IC(4) and a plate(18) are inserted. A supporting block(17) with several fastening holes(17a) for inserting a contact pin(16) is seated inside the housing. One end of the contact pin(16) is inserted into the fastening holes(17a) to connect with the module IC(4), and the other end is connected to contacting parts(16a,16b) of the plate(18). An elastic member(15) installed inside an elastic member insertion hole(12) of each housing restores the contact pin(16) to the original position.
