摘要 PURPOSE: A method for performing an adaptive hybrid automatic request question(ARQ) using serial codes is provided to use a coupling method to improve error correction capacities of a reed solomon(RS) code and a complementary punctured convolution(CPC) code, so as to restore damaged data information with only retransmitted data bits. CONSTITUTION: An automatic request question(ARQ) system punctures transmitting data packets to divide the packets into a first coupling packet and a second coupling packet, and encodes the divided coupling packets by different first perforation patterns to generate a first transmission packet and a second transmission packet. The ARQ system selects one of the transmission packets to transmit the selected transmission packet to a receiving side. If the first transmission packet is received in the receiving side, the ARQ system generates a third coupling packet by using a perforation pattern corresponding to the first transmission packet. The ARQ system generates a first header packet and a first payload packet with the third coupling packet, and checks an error. If the error is detected, the ARQ system transmits the second transmission packet to the receiving side. The receiving side generates a fourth coupling packet by using a perforation pattern corresponding to the second transmission packet. The ARQ system generates a second header packet and a second payload to check an error. If the error is detected, the system couples the first header packet with the second header packet, and couples the first payload packet with the second payload packet to check an error with each of the coupled packets. If the errors are not detected, the system completes a transmission.
