PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof are provided which can improve the luminance by increasing a sustain discharge time relatively, by applying an address pulse only during a discharge induction period of a sustain electrode and a scan electrode by an address electrode in an address period. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel(20) can improve the image quality and make it easy to drive by reducing an address period, by applying a pulse for discharge after forming a dummy electrode on the upper and lower part of a panel. In the plasma display panel, a plurality of scan electrodes(22-11-22-1k,22-21-22-2k) and a plurality of sustain electrodes(24-11-24-1k,24-21-24-2k) are arranged side by side, and a plurality of address electrodes(26-1-26-n) are arranged to cross with the scan electrodes and the sustain electrodes. The method drives the panel, by separating the plurality of sustain electrodes into a number of groups, and by connecting the plurality of sustain electrodes of each group in common, and by making the plurality of scan electrode correspond to the sustain electrodes and then by separating them into a plurality of groups. |
