PURPOSE: An interrupt device for an upper dead center task is provided to precisely determine the position of a cylinder for carrying out the top dead center task precisely and speedily, thereby improving the reliability of an engine control unit and carrying out precise engine control operation according to a vehicle running state. CONSTITUTION: An interrupt device for an upper dead center task includes a crank position sensor(1) for outputting a pulse signal to be changed in period according to the rotation state of a crank shaft, a cam position sensor(2) for outputting a pulse signal to be changed in period according to the rotation state of a cam shaft, a timer(3) for counting the number of pulses input from the crank position sensor to generate an interrupt signal, and an engine control element(4) for comparing the pulse signals output from the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor together to determine a position of a cylinder according to the rotation state of the crank shaft, and carrying out a top dead center task processing according to the interrupt signal output from the timer element.
