PURPOSE: A method for measuring a width of an object by CCD(Charge Coupled Device) cameras is provided to improve precision of measuring of the width of the object by removing a measuring error due to height of the object by differently computing a measuring distance according to whether the object is positioned in an inner or outer sight. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring a width of an object by CCD cameras includes the steps of determining whether the object is detected in an inner or outer sight of the cameras(S16,S26), measuring a distance from central reference lines of the cameras to a right or left edge in view of a height error of the object if an edge of the object is detected in the outer sight(S20,S34), measuring a distance from the central reference lines to the right or left edge of the object if the object is detected in the inner sight(S24,S30), computing the width of the object by adding the computed distance from the central lines to the right or left edges and an interval between the cameras(S36), storing the width data in a memory(S38), and determining whether the object is deviated from the measuring sight of the cameras and sequentially storing width measuring data in the memory after returning to the second step if the object is existing in the measuring sight(S40).
