PURPOSE: A method for checking the exchange of a nozzle for a surface mounting device is provided to check whether or not the nozzle is precisely exchanged by using a pneumatic pressure varied by a load. CONSTITUTION: A module head(51) having a head(54) for mounting an exchanged nozzle(56) is moved to a horizontal reference surface in such a manner that the nozzle(56) is finely spaced from the horizontal reference surface. The pneumatic pressure is applied to the head(54) of the module head(51). Then, the variation of the pneumatic pressure caused by the load of the horizontal reference surface is checked. The pneumatic pressure checking process is carried out by checking the distance between the nozzle(56) and the horizontal reference surface.
