PURPOSE: A level shifter circuit is provided which consumes a small amount of power and is suitable for high-speed operation since the level shifter circuit rapidly charges an input signal of PMOS elements and rapidly turn off the PMOS in case of short-circuit. CONSTITUTION: A level shifter circuit includes serially connected first and second NMOS transistors(31,32) for simultaneously receiving one of two input signals having the same voltage level but opposite phases, having the same body bias, third and fourth NMOS transistors(33,34) for simultaneously receiving the other input signal, having the same body bias, and fifth and sixth NMOS transistors(35,36) for receiving one of the input signals and charging the connection node between the third and fourth NMOS transistors or first and second NMOS transistors to a second power supply voltage when the first and second NMOS transistors or third and fourth NMOS transistors are turned off. The level shifter also includes first and second PMOS transistors(37,38) whose sources receive a first power supply voltage in common and whose drains are connected to one of output ports, third and fourth PMOS transistors(39,40) which are connected to the sources of the fifth and sixth NMOS transistors and turned on when the first and third NMOS transistors are turned on to charge the output ports with the second power supply voltage, and first and second diodes(41,42) connected between the second power supply voltage port and third and fourth PMOS transistors to prevent reduction in the voltage due to the voltage difference with the second power supply voltage when the first power supply voltage is applied to the output ports.
