The invention relates to a method and a device for suppressing advertising for entertainment electronics devices, especially for radio, television and video devices. The unwanted programme parts are defined according to an encoded identification signal which can be received by an online service provider, especially an Internet service provider. An unwanted programme part is then identified as such based on certain, specific characteristics and a corresponding identification signal is delivered, whereupon the particular programme parts are suppressed.
