Preparing irradiated scrap involves filling a container with scrap and compacting the closed container together with its contents by a forming operation. An Independent claim is also included for a container which is made of a ductile material, for use in the above process. The volume of the closed container together with the irradiated scrap is reduced by pressing, rolling or by an other forming operation.
