The gear change lever has a lever rod (2) with a multi-part knob part (3) joined to it at the upper end. The modular knob part consists of a mounting cup (4) joined to the lever rod, a spherical knob part (5) at least partly engaging the cup in shape-locking manner and a cover part (6) joined to the cup and at least partly enclosing the ball part in shape-locking manner so as to fix it in the cup so that parts of the surface area of the knob part are not covered and are visible.
